TikTok App Events API
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Signals sends app event data from your servers to TikTok, so conversions are recorded even when client-side tracking is limited by network conditions, device settings or platform restrictions.
It complements the TikTok SDK rather than replacing it. The SDK reports from the device; this connector reports from your server, which is the more reliable of the two when the device path is interrupted.
For conversions that happen on a website rather than in an app, use TikTok Events API. For sales recorded in a shop or a call center, use TikTok Offline Events API.
Supported sources
Section titled “Supported sources”Sources supported by TikTok App Events API
| Category | Supported |

Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before connecting TikTok App Events API, make sure you have:
- A TikTok Ads account.
- A TikTok Business Center account with access to the advertiser account you intend to send to.
- Server-side API permission on that account.
- Your app registered in TikTok Events Manager, so an App ID is available to select.
- A Datahash Studio account with the target project selected.
- A source connected in the same project sending app events.
Authentication
Section titled “Authentication”In Studio, open Destinations, find TikTok, and click the App Events API tile. This connector uses single sign-on only. There is no manual credentials path, which makes it the exception among the TikTok destinations.
- Click Continue with TikTok. A new window opens.
- Sign in to your TikTok for Business account.
- Review the requested permissions and click Confirm. You are returned to Studio.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Account and asset selection
Section titled “Account and asset selection”- Choose the TikTok Advertiser ID you want to send to.
- Select the associated App ID.
- Click Finish.
Only apps already registered against that advertiser account in TikTok Events Manager appear in the App ID list. If yours is missing, register it in Events Manager first and then return to this step.
Manage instance
Section titled “Manage instance”To change the instance, open it from Manage Instances, use the menu in the top right and choose Edit, update the fields and click Finish. Cancel keeps the previous configuration running, so updates apply only after you finish.
Consent parameters
Section titled “Consent parameters”TikTok exposes an Opt-in for Limited Data Usage control on the authentication screen. Select Yes to enable the restriction on how TikTok uses the data, which TikTok cites as relevant to United States state privacy laws in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Utah. Select No to disable it. The default is No.
This applies to the whole instance rather than to individual events, so decide it deliberately rather than leaving the default.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”- Check the Advertiser ID before finishing. Nothing on the confirmation screen tells you the account was the wrong one, and events sent to the wrong advertiser cannot be moved.
- Start with the small set of events your campaigns actually optimize towards, then widen. Every extra event is more data for TikTok to weigh, not necessarily better signal.
- Verify in TikTok Events Manager against the App ID you selected, not the advertiser account as a whole.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Section titled “Troubleshooting & FAQ”The App ID list is empty. The app is not registered against that advertiser account in TikTok Events Manager. Register it there, then reopen the setup.
Sign-in completes but no advertiser accounts appear. The TikTok account you signed in with does not have access to an advertiser account, or the requested permissions were not approved. Sign in again and approve all of them.
No events appearing. Confirm a source is connected in the same project and sending. A valid destination on its own produces nothing.
Counts are higher than expected. The same conversion is most likely arriving from both the SDK and the server. Decide which path owns each event.
Delivery stopped. The single sign-on grant may have been revoked or the permissions changed. Reconnect through Continue with TikTok.
