Step 1: Set up sub-domain for First Party Cookies

Purpose

Setting up a subdomain is a mandatory prerequisite for enabling first-party cookies and server-to-server tracking with the Web Data Source in Datahash.

If you have already configured a subdomain in your project, you can skip this step.

Note: Only one subdomain can be set up per project. To add another, you must create a new project.

Subdomain Setup Process
  1. Log in to Datahash
    • Go to the Datahash dashboard and log in with your credentials.Login to Datahash and open the sub-domain set-up by clicking on the Datahash icon in the center
    • Click on the Datahash engine icon in the center to open the Subdomain Setup screen.
  2. Provide Subdomain and Domain Name
    • Enter a subdomain name (e.g., s2s or firstpartydata).
    • Enter the domain name of the website where tracking will be implemented.
    • The domain name will be pre-filled based on your work email — verify and update if required.
    • Click Next.Providing Sub Domain and Domain Name: Provide a sub-domain name e.g. s2s or firstpartydata. Provide the domain name of the website on which tracking has to be setup. The domain name will be prefilled based on your work email. Do verify and update as required. Click Next.
  3. Set Up NS Records in Your Domain Manager
    • Once you save the subdomain and domain name, Nameserver (NS) records will be generated.
    • Log in to your domain provider’s DNS settings (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, AWS Route 53).
    • Add the generated NS records for your subdomain.
  4. Finish Setup
    • Click Finish to complete subdomain configuration.Once complete, click Proceed.Set up the NS records in the Domain Manager: Once you save the sub-domain and domain name, Nameserver (NS) records will be generated for the sub-domain and will be availabe to be set up on your website domain’s Domain manager in the DNS settings section.

Why This Step is Important:
Subdomain setup is essential for enabling server-to-server first-party tracking between multiple sources and destinations in Datahash.
Once this step is complete, proceed to setting up your Website Source Connector.
