    WHAT THIS ENABLES

    Google Tag Gateway

Google Tag Gateway is Google's managed first-party serving layer for the Google Tag, deployed by Datahash on your subdomain so Google Ads and GA4 measurement runs from your own domain rather than Google's shared domains.

    • Google Ads and GA4 tags served from your own domain, harder for ad blockers to strip.
    • Measurement that holds up as browsers tighten third-party restrictions.
    • First-party serving stood up and maintained by Datahash rather than your engineering team.
    WHO THIS IS FOR

Built for the teams that own the number.

Brands losing Google tag fires to ad blockers and tracking prevention.

Teams standardizing all measurement onto first-party subdomains.

    HOW DATAHASH SETS IT UP

    From kickoff to verified events.

    1. Provision

      Custom subdomain with TLS.

    2. Deploy

      Tag Gateway container deployment.

    3. Configure

Google Ads and GA4 tag configuration through the gateway.

    WHAT FLOWS WHERE

    Google tags, served first-party.

The Google Ads, GA4, and gtag scripts load from a first-party path on your own domain, yourbrand.com/gtg_path, instead of Google's shared domains, so browsers and ad blockers have far less to strip before measurement fires.

    FAQ

    Questions your team will ask.

Is this the same as server-side GTM?

No. sGTM is a full tagging server you configure and operate. Tag Gateway is Google's managed first-party serving layer for the Google Tag; it is lighter to run and purpose-built for Ads and GA4. Some stacks use both, and we advise which fits after an audit.

Do we still need Consent Mode?

Yes. Tag Gateway changes where tags are served from, not what consent is required before they fire; those obligations are unchanged. We integrate Consent Mode v2 as part of the deployment so signals degrade gracefully, falling back to modeled conversions, when a visitor declines consent, exactly as they would on Google's own domains.

Does routing tags through our subdomain add latency?

The gateway serves from infrastructure close to your users, so any added latency is typically single-digit milliseconds, in line with the under-5ms figure we target during deployment, and invisible in page metrics like Core Web Vitals. We verify performance during rollout and monitor it afterward so a slow region does not go unnoticed.
