What is the OpenAI Conversions API?
OpenAI's server-side channel for sending conversion events directly from your systems to its advertising surfaces on ChatGPT. It recovers the signal the browser pixel loses to cookie and browser restrictions, and it feeds optimization with complete, deduplicated conversion data. Datahash sets it up end to end, from event mapping through hashed delivery and production monitoring.
How does dedupe with the OpenAI Pixel work?
The pixel and the server send the same event with a shared event ID, and OpenAI keeps only one copy. Datahash generates and matches the event IDs across both sources, so running the OpenAI Pixel and the Conversions API together never inflates your conversion counts. The pixel still covers the browser signals the server cannot see directly.
What identifiers does OpenAI match on?
Hashed email and phone, plus the click identifier carried from the ad. Datahash hashes every identifier with SHA-256 before it leaves your environment, then attaches the strongest key set each event can carry, so match rates improve without raw customer data ever reaching OpenAI.
Is customer PII stored to run OpenAI CAPI?
No. Identifiers are hashed with SHA-256 at ingestion and no PII is stored on host servers in Datahash Cloud. A self-hosted Core deployment is available if conversion data cannot leave your own environment, and the same hashing approach applies to every event sent this way.
