Measuring the offline impact of your Snap campaigns

Shopping journeys increasingly start online and end at a till, where ad platforms cannot see them. Snap Offline CAPI closes that gap by sending store conversions from your CRM directly to Snap.

The shopping journey increasingly begins online and ends in a store. When we first wrote about this, one industry report put 59% of total US retail sales as digitally influenced, and the pattern has only hardened since. For anyone advertising on Snap, that raises an awkward measurement question: if the ad worked but the purchase happened at a till, who gets the credit?

    Why offline conversions go missing

By default, nobody does. Three things break when the conversion moves offline:

    • Tracking the sale is genuinely complex. The purchase lands in a POS system or CRM, with no browser event, no pixel, and no automatic link back to the ad that drove it.
    • Retargeting opportunities disappear. A customer who bought in store looks, to the platform, like someone who never converted, so they keep seeing acquisition ads.
    • Attribution falls apart. Without offline data, there is no visibility into which channels and campaigns actually drive store revenue.

Ad platforms optimise on what they see. Feed Snap only online conversions and it will optimise for online conversions, while your store sales sit outside the loop making the campaign look worse than it is. That is how budgets get shifted away from ads that are paying for themselves at the register.

    How Snap Offline CAPI works

Snap Offline CAPI is a server-to-server integration that sends offline conversion data, tied to hashed first-party identifiers, from your systems directly to Snap. Snap matches those identifiers, such as email and phone number, against ad exposure and reports offline ROAS alongside your online results.

The mechanics mirror Snap’s web Conversions API. Your CRM or database is the event source instead of a website, and the conversion payload describes a store purchase instead of an AddToCart. Identifiers are hashed before transmission, so what travels is match signal, never raw customer data.

Getting the data out of your CRM

The hard part of offline measurement was never the API. It is the plumbing between where sales live and where Snap listens. Datahash connects that path without a build project: native CRM connectors for platforms like Salesforce and HubSpot, plus support for custom in-house CRMs and data warehouses. Hashing is built in, so first-party data is protected at source, and the setup is no-code, which keeps IT dependency to a minimum. A typical Snap Offline CAPI integration is live in two to three days.

Once it runs, every qualifying store transaction flows back to Snap as a matched conversion. Campaigns get judged on their full impact, offline buyers drop out of acquisition retargeting, and budget decisions rest on numbers that include the register.
