Detailed implementation steps
Overview:
Meta Conversions API Gateway is a server-side solution designed to help businesses send web event data directly to Meta from their servers. It is a streamlined, codeless setup option for quickly implementing the Conversions API. It simplifies the Conversions API setup by offering improved data handling and reducing technical complexity. The Meta Conversions API Gateway acts as an intermediary, simplifying the integration between your systems and Meta’s advertising platform.
Setup:
There are 2 parts of the setup:
- Partner Setup Initiation:
- Choosing the Datahash partner option for the required dataset in the Meta Events Manager for Conversions API setup
- Meta Conversions API Gateway setup on Datahash Platform:
- Setting up the Meta Conversions Gateway once redirected to the Datahash platform from the Meta Events Manager

- Setting up the Meta Conversions Gateway once redirected to the Datahash platform from the Meta Events Manager
Part 1: Partner Setup Initiation:
- Login to the Meta Events Manager on https://www.facebook.com/events_manager2/# (You can also navigate to Events Manager from Meta Business Manager or Business Suite).
- Select the data source for which you would like to set up the Meta Conversions API Gateway.
- Now, click on settings and scroll down to the Conversions API section and click on ‘Get Started.’
- Choose ‘Host with a partner’ option and then select ‘Datahash.’ Click on ‘Get started.’
- You will land on the setup instructions. Here, you open the video to check out the setup instructions.
- Now, click on ‘Go to Datahash’ to begin your Setup journey.
Part 2: Meta Conversions API Gateway setup on Datahash Platform:
- Once you click on ‘Go to Datahash’ from Meta Events Manager, you will be redirected to the Datahash platform.
- Login with email and OTP to access the platform.
- Provide some basic information needed to create the account and click on ‘Get Started.’
- You will see a brief overview of the benefits of the Meta Conversions API Gateway. Click on ‘Start Setup’ to begin your integration.
- Meta Conversions API Gateway Setup:
- You will land on the guided flow for the integration.
- Start by logging in with your Facebook business account for which you would like to integrate into the Meta Conversions API Gateway for.
- Select the business portfolio and the associated in the sign-up flow and grant the required permissions being asked for MetaConversions API Gateway to function properly.
- Once done, your Meta Conversions API Gateway partial setup will be successfully done.
Sub Domain setup:
- You will be redirected to the sub domain setup.
- It is recommended to set up the subdomain since receiving data through a first-party domain can help improve measurement performance.
- Provide a sub-domain name e.g., s2s or firstpartydata. Provide the domain name of the website on which tracking has to be setup. Once done, click ’Next’.
- A CNAME record will be generated which is required to be mapped in the domain manager to complete the sub domain setup.
- There is an option to email the instructions for setting up the sub-domain to the required person/s.
- For ease of usage, the sub domain setup step by step instruction is also provided.
- Click Proceed to move ahead. You can see the DNS propagation status for the record generated. It will move to the completed stage once the CNAME record has been added in the respective domain manager.
- You can see the Meta Conversions API Gateway setup overview with the selected details and the status along with the sub domain and domain setup.
