Description:
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files between a client and server on a computer network. FTP is built on a client-server model architecture and uses separate control and data connections between the client and the server. Pre-Requisites:
Before you begin, ensure you have the following FTP server details:
- FTP Server Address
- FTP Server Port (default: 22)
- FTP Server Username
- FTP Server Password
Getting Started:
- Log in to your Datahash account at https://studio.datahash.com/login.
- Navigate to Sources → Files from the left-hand menu.
- Click on the “File FTP” connector tile.
Choose Data Entity
- Select Store Sales as the data entity.
- Provide a name for your file source.
- Click Next.
Download Sample File
- Download the sample file to understand the required structure and format.
- Prepare your sales data accordingly.
- Upload the file to your FTP server in the appropriate folder.
Provide FTP Credentials
Enter the following details for Datahash to access your files:
- FTP Hostname – The hosting server name.
- FTP Port – Default is 22.
- FTP Username/Password – Typically same as cPanel or server login.
- Relative Path to Data Folder – Example: myfolder/salesdata.
Datahash will validate the credentials. Once validated, your connection will be successfully set up.
Click Finish.
You will now see the connected instance in your dashboard.
Managing Instances
Adding a New Instance
- Follow the same setup steps as above.
- Provide a new connection name and data entity.
- Enter the FTP access credentials.
- Validate and click Finish.
- The new instance (for example, Ads Connection 2) will appear in the Manage Connections table.
Editing an Existing Instance
- In the Manage Connections table, click on the connection name you want to edit.
- Click on the Edit icon (top-right corner).
- Update the required fields (for example, credentials, path, file name).
- Click Test Connection to validate.
- Click Finish to apply changes.
- If you click Cancel during editing, the previous configuration will remain active. Updates are only applied once you click Finish.
